Your Friendly, Neighborhood Real Estate Expert
Born and raised in Onslow County, I have watched this area grow to be one of the most desired areas on the eastern coast. Since I had family in the industry, I was brought up around real estate and saw its potential at a young age. I graduated from East Carolina University with a BSBA and a concentration in real estate. I sat for the real estate broker exam as a senior in college and have remained a broker since 1977. Over the years, I have had the pleasure and the opportunity to have become involved in all aspects of the industry. I have learned the ins and outs of a seasoned professional through owning my own companies and managing properties as well as working with and learning from professionals whom I respect.
My first experience out of college was with one of the largest builders in the Greenville, NC market, Century 21 Lanco Realty. There, I learned that while my formal education at ECU taught me a lot, the school of hard knocks taught me about the real world. For almost 10 years after that, I worked for a timeshare developer selling timeshares and condominiums. I was able to travel around the country, experience different places and meet new people. My heart never left North Carolina though and my next venture would prove to be the real test to my abilities. My partner and I decided to start our own vacation rental company on Sugar Mountain, called Eastern Hospitality Group. I successfully maintained a condominium hotel with 320 units, full restaurant, housekeeping staff and activities coordination as well as managed several Home Owners Associations. After selling the company in 1991, I remained active with my real estate license but decided to try my hand in insurance. I worked with the SIA Insurance Group as a Sales Manager for 13 years as a licensed Property and Casualty agent. This experience and the skills that I learned only helped to further my education in the real estate industry. In 2004, I decided to go back to my first love and continue my career in real estate. I currently reside with one of the top agencies in the state, RE/MAX.
Since we live in such a great area of the country, it is easy to take advantage of the atmosphere. Whether it is boating and shelling along the North Carolina beaches, camping or playing basketball, my thirst for sports and the outdoors has followed me throughout my life. I’m currently involved with the Onslow and Jones Counties in the establishment of a paddle trail on the White Oak River. Joint efforts will make this a reality this spring. My daughters have recently finished school. Sarah graduated from Charleston School of Law and Katie just finished her MBA at Northwestern University in Journalism.
I hope that you can see, Onslow County is my home and I enjoy every aspect of it. Let me show you the best parts of living here and help to make it your home too.
